Hey, I'm wondering which computer science department would be considered better out of UW Tacoma and UW Bothell? I have already taken the computer science classes at UW Seattle, CSE 142 and 143, and did good enough in them (better than my friends also trying for the major that go to UW Seattle... but still UW won't take me -.-) to consider trying for the major, so I'm deciding which of the other UW Campuses to go to. A family member of mine went to UW Tacoma for CS and landed jobs in Microsoft and other places in the last 15 years, so I know that their CS program is probably good, but I hear UW Bothell has a better reputation, but is also newer so they may not have as refined a program.

Advice please?

Bump… I really need to know this!

Are you a high school student, CC student or what is your situation, and why won’t UW seattle accept you?

Currently a UW Bothell student.

I don’t see any reason why you would transfer to UW Tacoma if you already go to UWB. If there is a difference between them, it’s probably too small to quantify and I don’t think there is anyone who can really answer which is better without having attended CS at both. I can tell you though, if you want a good job after you graduate, that is going to be a function of how hard you work and your dedication, not which school you attended.

I talked to a UW Seattle CSE advisor recently and they said both Bothell and Tacoma based their curriculum on the program at Seattle. I would expect they’re both similar enough to not warrant transferring.
