Computer science vs. Computer information systems

I am a sophomore at a private midwest college. I have yet to declare a major and really need to do that soon. Right now I am trying to figure out what would be most beneficial for me. I am not really sure what I want to do as far as careers go so I am trying to decide what will give me the widest range of possibilities. Would it be better to major in Computer Science or major in Computer information systems with possible double minor in business and computer science?

Please help in anyway you can

Computer science leads to work in designing and developing computers and software. Computer information systems leads to work in managing computers and software.

If you’re not exactly sure yet, go with Comp Sci since it’s much broader and gives you more possibilities. Business degrees are pretty useless for jobs so, I wouldn’t bother if I were you… Though you can take them as a minor if you’re really into that stuff.

There is no one right answer, they are both in high demand areas with lots of opportunity. It depends on what you want to do. Do you want to be a full-time programmer? If yes, you will be in demand as a CS major. Do you want to do some programming but combine with other business responsibilities? Then major in CIS. I have 2 kids who are CIS majors. One graduated last year & one is a senior. The CIS grads at their school have 100% job placement. Congratulations, you are in a win-win situation
