Computer Science?

Does anyone here study CS, or have studied?
what's it like?
I've heard that a CS degree from cornell wouldn't be regarded as much, because CS isn't it's specialty (like MIT or any other institute), and that it's a more agricultural school. I don't think that's true, though. any insight into COrnell would be great! thanks!

Cornell has one of the best computer science programs in the US.

Can you elaborate, please?

Or you can look at any rankings. And while rankings don’t give you the whole story, they’ll give you a general idea. And the general idea is Cornell CS is easily a Top 20 school and usually a Top 10 school.

Wow that’s great!
Thank you :)

Hey CPUscientist300, I’m in engineering and an ambassador for the university.

I considered studying CS for a short amount of time. I’m even taking classes in the major. Like all engineering majors they make sure you know your stuff for each class. For instance the data structures class I’m in right now gives us projects that are almost impossible without a partner. Even then it’s pretty difficult. But at the end of the day everything is do-able. Personally I didn’t like how the courses fit me, but other people love it. One thing to keep in mind is that you’re not going to be behind the computer all the time. It gets into theory pretty early. And your last programming class is during your sophomore year. The best way to figure out if it suits you honestly is to get your hands dirty and get into the classes.

Thanks, that was really helpful. I take classes at community college now in programming, and I like it (though it is frustrating.)

I’d also like to maybe go into engineering as well. Maybe grad school, or go to grad school for Human-Computer interaction. The only grad school I know of at the moment that has this is Carnegie Mellon (I’ll research more if I really decide I want to.)

I like the whole partner thing, because in high school we aren’t required to do ANY work with partners and every thing is doable by yourself.
I’d like to sit in on a class at Cornell if I’m able to visit this summer.

I’m glad that you responded! May I PM you if I have questions in the future?
