Impressive...some of the specs almost as good as my desktop I built a few months ago, plus it's widescreen. Anyone know a cost and a battery life? I could use a new laptop

The RPI laptop is usually about $2000 or so. If you got the "President's Award," it's free. Either way, it's an awesome deal considering what you're getting. Battery life is about 3-4 hours, depending on how bright you have the screen set. You can get an extended life battery, which can last up to 7 hours if you have the brightness turned way down.

Generalities about the RPI laptop program aside, it would be nice to know what the actual price of the laptop is, because a couple years ago it was $2500, big difference. The good deal is due to the software package included, which is irrelevent for a number of applications which RPI makes available for free download and licensing anyway.

RPI's T61 is $1950.
