Computer crashing and need to get another. Suggestions for something to take for college (not for another year), thinking laptop, probable business/econ major? Is Macbook recommended....thought some programs not available?

For business, get Windows. It’s pretty much the industry standard for business and you can get all the programs you need. I like laptops, but it can be as large or small as you need. I would recommend waiting until the last possible second with your old laptop because the technology keeps changing.

For business majors, Windows computers are overwhelmingly dominant. However, that is more due to personality similarities rather than any material advantage Windows computers have over macs. If you personally like macs more, feel free to get it. The only time I can really think of a macbook getting in the way is when you have to pony up $30 to get an adapter that lets you hook up to a projector.

Any brand in particular? Clueless…thanks!

I like HP computers. They’re a decent build quality with excellent customer service and not too expensive either. Lenovo is also good but I’m not a major fan. Sony I also like. I would stay away from Dell… I had one of their computers, it really wasn’t great. No experience with anything else.

Our family just got Toshiba’s- they are working out great.
