Concern about pre-reqs for undergrad engineering

Hello,

I’m currently a junior at a moderately competitive high school. As my college search is well underway, I’m looking at schools that are especially strong in engineering (Ga Tech, Mich, UVA, UIUC, ) and I’m planning on applying EA to many of these. Below is the list of science and math courses I’ve taken so far/ am taking and the ones I’m planning to take senior year.

9th- Geometry Accel, Physical Science
10th- Algebra II Accel, Bio Honors
11th- Precalc Accel, AP Bio, Chem Honors

Planning to take in 12th- AP Physics, AP Stat, AP Chem, AP Calc BC

I have performed/am performing well in all of these courses, but I’m just worried that a lack of physics or basic engineering courses on my transcript is going to hurt my chances of getting into engineering programs (specifically AE or ME) at these schools for early action. Based on the courses on my transcript from 9th- 11th grade, will this likely be the case from a purely pre-req standpoint? Do you guys recommend I go RD for these schools instead, so that they can see my AP Physics grades for the first semester of senior year? I just need a little guidance so I know exactly to which schools I wanna apply EA.

Thanks

You’re fine; many (most?) high schools don’t offer engineering, and some schools don’t offer APs at all. Your potential schools will be looking for you to have at least one calculus class and one physics class before graduating – taking them senior year is perfectly acceptable (and common). Assuming your grades up until then are good, test scores are solid, etc., you’re right on track.
