Concern about SAT essay score

I’m a junior, and I just got my SAT score back

SAT: 1570 (770 EBRW 800 Math)

Pretty good. However, I got a (7/3/7) in the essay, which totals a 17.

Is this an area of concern? How heavily is the SAT essay viewed? Do they look at subsections? That 3 isn’t too good…

Move on. The number of schools that require the essay portion gets smaller by the minute. They can better judge your writing by the application essays.

So it wouldn’t lower my chances?

For a school that is optional for the SAT Essay? No. For a school that requires the SAT essay? Doubtful. In the grand scheme of things the SAT essay is close to the bottom in importance, and your 1570 is outstanding.

I liken the various components of the application to the Avengers; they are all important in their own way, but there’s a reason that the guy who shoots trick arrows and the dude that shrinks didn’t go up against Thanos. SAT/ACT essays represent Ant-Man.

Agree with @skieurope. SAT Essay barely matters
