I am writing my nomination letter now, but I have ran into an issue. I need to include my final GPA and my class rank. However, seniors in my school are not given these until October 1. I don’t want to wait until then to send in my nomination. Should I send the letter now, and where class rank should go I can put a note like final transcript and class rank available October 1.

And i’m curious, is anyone else going through this where they don’t have their final transcripts and class ranks yet?

If you are a senior in HS this year, you senators and representative is expecting your GPA and ranking up through your junior year. They and the academy wouldn't even start allowing processing if they wanted Senior information also.

Now, having said that, your senator or rep may have different criteria. Most of them don't process their recommendations until Nov-Dec. Most have a cutoff of Novemeber.

My son got his transcripts, GPA, Class Ranking, School Profile, senior class schedule and teacher's recommendations shortly after school got out in June. The academy didn't seem to reject them. They show him as complete. As for the rep and senator, we sent them the same transcript, gpa, ranking, etc... info that we sent to the air force academy. But hey; I'm just a parent. Retired enlisted at that. :) I'm sure one of the cadets who have been through this will know for sure. Later... Mike...

My class rank is currently only through my Sophomore year and I was told my class rank will improve after Junior year. I was told to send my transcripts in how they are now and once it is updated to send in the updated copy.

Yes I am a senior, but my school does not put together it's class ranks and profile until October 1. That's when our final transcript and class ranks are given to us. There's no way of me getting that information before October 1.

...then send a note politely explaining that you will update your file as soon as the information becomes available. You may also want to include a contact number for yourself and someone at your school (Guidance dept. perhaps)

You should call your Rep and Senator and ask them how they want it. In my state, the rep and Senator have a late November cutoff for submission. They would probably just tell me to submit it all to me the 1st of October. Luckily we don't have to wait that long. Ours is available in June. later... Mike...

I had the same deal, my cut-offs were November 1 I believe for the nomination packet, but all that was available was junior year stuff. Most representatives and such will obviously understand this, however if for some reason they don't, I'll echo, yeah attach a note and say it will be updated ASAP. good luck

Continue to update everything until your MOC has made his decisions. They don't mind hearing from you. We even sent in further recommendations, but the MOC had a special form that had to be filled out with each one. Don't hesitate to call and get acqainted with your MOC's staffer in charge of academy noms. They've usually been doing this for a long time, and they know what the limitations are on your reporting of grades and class rank.

Just backing up what everyone else has said: put in what you have now, let them know that you will send in updated stuff as soon as possible, and then send it once you get it. That's what I did last year. Good luck with the process.
