<p>I'm probably going to apply ED to hopkins this fall, and I'm really involved with music and "the scene" if you will. I like going to emo/punk/alternative shows in philadelphia where I'm from. Does Baltimore have any good venues for local/mainstream alternative bands?</p>

<p>try the recher theater in towson-- close to JHU. that's one that comes to mind.</p>
<p>Yeah I'm sort of a scenester too. I live in Manhattan, and I pretty much obsessed with hardcore and shows and the like. Baltimore has a really good scene from what I hear. </p>
<p>EDIT: I didn't realize you were only a junior. I'm going to be a freshman at JHU in the fall... I hear the Ottobar books a lot of good shows in the area. Apparently it's within minutes of JHU.</p>
