Cornell seemed to have a really relaxed EA/ED (i don’t remember which early type they offered) choice this year so you should be able to get in, but your Canadian heritage might lessen your chances.

I would put Harvard as very high reach, brown as reach, and dartmouth as low reach so strong essays should get you into dartmouth

and I wouldn’t dismiss those who don’t use calculators on their sat’s as crazy … I breezed through the math2 subject test without turning on my calculator (well at least until it came time to check my answers)

I didn’t apply anywhere ED… wait, do you mean that because Cornell’s ED admissions was relaxed this year, that their RD will be too?

Thanks for chancing. I really hope I get into Brown & Cornell (and the other two, of course).

haha sorry about generalizing (: I didn’t mean to say people who don’t use calcs are lazy, just that most people use them b/c it’s much faster for them. I know I couldn’t do some questions without the calculator (e.g. standard deviation, harder trig questions)

Well assuming that the admissions officer(s) who let more than 75% of the CC early applicants in didn’t get fired, I would say that RD should be easy (relative to past years)

hmm actually it may be harder as there will be less slots for the RD season … hard to say for sure

Frankly, you may not get into any. I would say it is reach-high reach for all.
Huge disadvantage for living in Canada.
My friend got a 2300+ SAT with way better stats(no offense) and still got rejected to every single one of ivy league schools.

Hmm, some mixed reviews on my profile. Any other opinions? I would really like to settle this lol Why is it a “huge disadvantage” for living in Canada?

i dont want to sound harsh or obnoxious like 8yearman. although hes pretty blunt, hes right. definitely apply to more schools than that… although your stats RELATIVE to your school are awesome, you need to apply to more schools because theyre all reaches. all of them are reasonable (harvard a lot less, but still manageable), think of all of the killer kids applying internationally as well with stats like those PLUS something else.

none of them are out of the question but definitely apply to more because those are all reaches!
good luck though1!

Yup, but as I said before, I’m international & my family isn’t loaded, so unless I get into a top school in the US, I’m not going to go out of the country for university. That’s why I’m only applying to those 4 schools-they’re awesome schools, obviously, but I also think that they’re good fits for me.

Anywho, thanks for the chance. I will chance you back.

Thank you for chancing. I will chance back.

BUMPITY BUMP hehe since our family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, I didn’t get any presents yesterday… but you can give me the best present by CHANCING ME

colleges do not have racial quotas to fulfill, but many do have quotas for international students. as only a small number of international students are admitted each year to each of these school, and all schools would like to balance out their international admits so that they come from all over the world, being admitted as an international student is very hard.
your sat stats are pretty low for all four of these schools. some of the awards you mentioned will help, but all four colleges remain reaches to high reaches. i can’t possibly know enough about you to accurately predict your chance, but, from what you’ve written, the probability you’ll be admitted is not that high. possible though.

I think what’s really unique about you is the fact that you paint which is amazing. I think that puts a great twist to your application. Your SAT grade is ofcourse great and not having just those perfect scores on SAT IIs also shows that you are a well rounded person and you have a life and you’re not just about studying 24/7. Overall I think that Harvard is a reach and all the others are a match for you. Good luck! :)

You have a strong profile (academics wise). I still feel that you have an uphill battle at all the schools except Cornell. You should get into Cornell no problem but the rest are a serious maybe.
You lack leadership activities and your awards arn’t great. For Ivys, both these things are VERY important. Just kill your essays then, those will be the deciding factor.

^Alright, thank you both for chancing! I think I’m pretty good at writing essays. My common app essay is unique (: Hopefully, I will get into at least one of the schools I’m applying to. I really want to go to Brown or Cornell, but there are so many essays for Brown D:

MORE CHANCERS? it will bring good karma for the new year!

i’m curious as to what your SAT I breakdown is? A 730-730-730 is still a pretty solid score, but an 660-750-790 is not as strong. Nonetheless everything else is pretty strong. I’d say:

what’s the difference between “reach” and “mid reach”?
Thanks for chancing. I will chance back!
I submitted my app on Dec 28 hehe hopefully, they will be impressed…

lol? i would think that a reach is a mid reach

anyway, i know you’ve already submitted but i still feel like typing something =]
first off, cornell only cares about your math and reading scores, so if those two added together is like a 1500 i think you’re in solid ground. secondly, there’s a very big diff in admit rate between cornell CAS and cornell human ecology. the former has like a 15% acceptance rate, the latter has like a 35% acceptance rate. of course, cornell really likes fit, so you’d have to write a good essay too and not just go by admission rates. i hope that in your essay you really tried to show fit and why you want to go to cornell. i think cornell would give you brownie points for that. and cornell also really likes high gpas. i live in america, but a 94 sounds pretty good to me. your sat 2 test scores are a little worrying though. a 720 in bio is not the best, but i don’t think it’ll kill you. i only got a 750 so yeah lol. as for math, definitely try to get at least a 750.

anyway, best of luck rainbowsprinkles! you seem to really care!
