Please chance me for:
Cornell
Dartmouth
Penn
Harvard
Brown
Bowdoin
Middlebury
Williams
Duke
Rice
Vanderbilt
Carleton
UVa
CMU
Davidson
IU Kelley
Brandeis
Tufts
Boston College

Your relatively low GPA will really hurt. Harvard, for example, accepts less than one in five valedictorians. Not having a particularly strong EC also hurts you a lot at the top schools. However, all those schools are reaches, not out of reach because your stats are just good enough to at least be considered.

Cornell - reach
Dartmouth - reach
Penn - reach
Harvard - reach
Brown - reach
Bowdoin - low reach
Middlebury - high match
Williams - low reach
Duke - reach
Rice - high match
Vanderbilt - low reach
Carleton - match
UVa - match
CMU - high match
Davidson - match
IU Kelley - safety
Brandeis - low match
Tufts - match
Boston College - low match

“Your relatively low GPA will really hurt.”

Nonsense!

OP is a private school kid in the top 10% of his class which is sufficient for anywhere he is applying.

“Weaknesses: pretty much the mediocrity of everything else” So OP won’t get into Harvard and two of Dartmouth, Duke, Brown and Penn.

i think you will get into boston college for sure
duke is a high match
tufts is a saftey
cmu is a match

Right, thanks guys.

I applied to Harvard on a whim. I think it’s as close to out of reach as can get.
Going by what ive read in CC decision threada, I agree with most of bubble’s evaluations. However, rhg3rd might just be right on the private school thing; apparently, this is a bit of a gray area and things tend to vary from school to school.

Anyway, thanks guys. I’m also applying to these schools and would be thankful if you could chance me for them as well:

GTown
Amherst
Wustl

I have very similar stats and a similar school list too. I’d say:

Harvard, Amherst: High Reach
Dartmouth, Penn, Duke, Williams, Georgetown: mid reach
Cornell, WashU, Vandy, Rice, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Carleton: low reach
Davidson, UVa, CMU: high match
Tufts, BC, Brandeis: match
IU Kelley: Safety

Hmmmmmm, what is the basis on which you’ve discriminated between Amherst and Dartmouth/Williams/Duke?

Ivies(other than Cornell and Dartmouth are reach/high reach mainly b/c of GPA, but also no AP’s? And why didn’t you talk about your 1200 hours of work experience in your essay rather than your relationship with your parents!

HYP: High reach
Upenn: reach
Brown, Dart, Cornell: low reach
CMU:hard to say,what’s your major?
UVA: match - high match(in-state?)
Brandeis: match

Shine with your essays. Ivies reject many walking 2400s and 4.0s. You are not a bunch of numbers - focus on who you are and what you do.

Predictions and comments?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1575443-chance-me-my-ed-ea-hyp-mit-please-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Thanks for chancing.

Didnt go for work ex because ive mentioned it elsewhere. It might have been the better idea, who knows.

I’m in NY state. My essays are likely pretty decent but I just havent the kind of life or writing skills to write ultra compelling essays. In terms of what ive seen and done, I’m not exactly super interesting. But I do think that I appear pretty honest and sincere in my essays and I think I have left a lot of scope for them to see what my personality is like. So hope I dont look like a number to them.

Have applied to Tepper as first choice, BTW. Dietrich second.

I’ll chance you guys in a few hours, when I have more time. Thanks

OK, their commentary aside, none of these schools are ridiculously out of reach (not even Harvard is completely impossible). Is it unlikely that you’ll receive acceptance letters from all of them? Yes. But you still have pretty solid chances to a few. Here’s my assessment:

Cornell: Reach
Dartmouth: Reach
Penn: Reach
Harvard: High Reach
Brown: Reach
Bowdoin: High Match/Low Reach
Middlebury: Match
Williams: Low Reach
Duke: Reach
Rice: Low Reach
Vanderbilt: Low Reach
Carleton: Low Match
UVa: Match
CMU: Low Reach
Davidson: Low Match
Brandeis: Low Match
Tufts: Match
Boston College: Low Match

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1597151-chances-competitive-schools-ill-chance-back-quickly.html</a></p>

Haha thanks man, you guys are reassuring.

I’ll be satisfied with the process if I get into a school like CMU or UVa. Pleasantly surprised if I get into Duke/Georgetown. Ecstatic if I get into Dartmouth/Williams/Brown. Downright shocked if I get into Harvard. Slightly disappointed if I get into BC/Tufts. Fairly disappointed if only IU.

Secretly, I hope I get into Middlebury and/or Bowdoin and no ivy league schools etc. That way no one including myself puts any pressure on me and idk I just feel nice about the idea of going there. Scared my grades will sink me at Bowdoin. As for Middlebury, I feel I’m am amazing fit and you guys have all chanced me pretty well so hope I make it. Was going to apply EDII but my counselor said it’s a bad idea if you haven’t visited.

I just feel Amherst is less about all rounders and looks very specifically for leadership and things like that

So I got wait listed by WUSTL. Still waiting for the rest.

Loool even I got WLed by WashU

The wait is killing me man haha.

I’m willing to chance back.

BUMP

Other than the ivies you mention, Id say all of them would be a match for your profile. Cornell is probably a high match, and the other ivies r probably a low reach. Gpa shouldnt hurt u too much

I’m surprised with WashU’s decision… it just amazes me.
I’d say the same for WUSTL, but they tend to be slightly queer when it comes to admissions.

Cornell is a high match/low reach. Best of luck with HYP.

WashU and WUSTL are the same school :p

Haha I have a sneaky feeling Cornell will deny me.

Thanks for your wishes. I haven’t applied to HYP though, just H (which I have absolutely no shot at).

Guess you could say my HYP are Dartmouth, Williams and Brown lol.
