<p>I was reading through my conditions of admission on my Cal acceptance and noticed this bit:</p>

<p>"This offer of admission does not guarantee acceptance into a specific major. You must file a petition to officially declare your major after you enroll at Berkeley. Acceptance into a major is subject to completion of departmental prerequisites and conditions."</p>

<p>What does this mean? I thought I was accepted to my major (Political Science).</p>

<p>You probably didn’t finish the required pre-reqs so they just admitted you to the college and not major. You’ll just fill out a form when you get to Cal and they’ll put you in the major (might have to complete the pre-reqs first).</p>

<p>All L&S students at Berkeley are admitted under the school instead of the major, regardless of whether you had finished your pre-reqs.</p>
