Conflicting Anthro 7 Course

So I'm looking at classes for Winter Quarter. I already have three classes planned out (Physics 1B, Math32B, History1A), and since I have free time with the three classes I have this quarter, I'm thinking about taking a fourth.

One class I'm thinking of taking is Anthro 7 with Manson to knock off part of my Life Science GE. Unfortunately, his lectures on Tuesday and Thursday coincide with lectures I've already planned (the discussion is at a time I can attend, which I've heard is more important). However, I've heard all of his lectures/notes are online.

Therefore, for those of you that have taken the class, is it safe to take Anthro 7 even if I'm never going to be stepping foot inside the classroom? Thanks.

hahaha! i'm so the pro on this one.

yes, it is safe. but if you're going to do what i did last year (and i literally never saw the inside of the lecture hall, even for the midterm because my section was in another room)... then you NEED to be good at self-study. and i highly recommend knowing someone in that class, JUST in case there's a technology glitch or something. you will meet people in your discussions (which are attendance based) so it shouldn't be hard to make friends.

breakdown of my time in anthro:
-never went to lecture, watched all online (but i had the bad strategy of slacking off and cramming before tests)
-did hw by fishing the answers out of the book, but didn't even turn in all my hw or go to half my discussions... BAD idea btw, because unless you ace the tests, you're giving away crucial points
-aced the tests (2 midterms, final)
-got an A

so to sum up. you never need to go to lecture, but GO to discussion!hopefully you will get a more interesting TA than i did, but then again (to me) the material isn't that interesting to begin with. and DO YOUR HOMEWORK. easy points. just keep up with the pace, and it will be the easiest A of your life. good luck! :)
