<p>Basically, is the essay supposed to show my interest in Penn and let them know Penn is my first choice, or is it supposed to showcase my talents?</p>
<p>Show them your interest and like what you want from it?
Eg, classes? Wharton? The political atmosphere? Etc?
I mean ,you can also tie yourself into it and say how it'd make you a better person, etc.
But do try to convey it more eloquently than I just explained XD</p>
<p>it's a mix of both</p>
<p>it doesn't make sense to praise a strength that has nothing to do with your interests (e.g. woo i'm a hardcore ibanker whartonite wannabe, let me talk about penn's biomedical strengths)</p>
<p>however, this is not the place to rehash other aspects of your application, but rather to discuss how penn's offerings can reinforce the interests and talents you've already revealed elsewhere.</p>
