Hi, I was thinking of taking a couple Russian courses at our local college (3 semester-long classes). However, I'm not sure how that'll apply to college admissions. Will I get transfer credit for them if I get a decent grade? And I won't have to apply as a transfer student if I take a college class as a HS student right? Just to clarify, this is not dual- enrollment.

Sorry if I'm being a total blonde :(

Thank you for your time :)

Also, sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum - not sure which one to use D:

Typically, college courses taken before high school graduation won’t force you to apply as a transfer instead of frosh, but check each college’s rules.

Typically, college courses are potentially transferable, but some (usually private) colleges do not give credit for college courses taken while in high school, or have restrictions on their transferability. However, for foreign languages, college foreign language departments are typically willing to place students with existing knowledge into appropriate higher level courses, regardless of credit granted or not. Check each college’s rules.

My daughter will end HS with about 50 hours of college credit, some of it dual enrollment, most by simply taking classes on the college campus. She was admitted to state universities, small liberal arts colleges, and several BIG NAME schools. Everyone just looked at her college credit at face value and accepted her into the freshman class. There’s 1.5 million applicants out there. Every college has seen just about every possible situation, and they know what to do.

Transferring language credits really depends on the school. Many language departments do not trust other schools’ credits, AP tests, etc. But you can probably get placed pretty high if you do well on a departmental placement test.

Thank you so much guys!!! I really appreciate it
