I am interested in applying to Engineering Honors but I don't really understand what is required of those who are admitted. The catalog says that you are eligible to enroll in honors courses but doesn't say which, if any of the courses are required. What if I want to take honors Calculus, but don't want to take Honors Chemistry. Is that allowed? A friend of mine who is now a junior in Chemical engineering was admitted to Engineering Honors as an incoming freshman and she says that she didn't take any honors classes but says she will still have the honors designation on her diploma. Is this right?

This is pretty spot on. Engineering Honors is a program, not a degree plan. I am a freshman in EE Honors. I am taking Multivariable Calculus at the honors level, but I could have taken that without being in the honors program. The only thing academic related that honors will affect is during your senior year design project. Other then that, you receive lots of small perks such as easier registration for classes, living in the honors quad, heightened visibility during recruiting for internships/job, special seminars and corporate meetings.

Is there a minimum number of honors courses that you have to take? It seems like you could get admitted into honors and then end up not taking any honors courses if you wanted to. Do all engineering students do a senior thesis or just those in the honors program? Thanks.

yeah im confused about that to for LAH

For LAH, there is a required seminar late Monday afternoons during the first semester and then there is one required class.
