On Account Inquiry in WA, my total charges were very recently $12,098, due by 8/31. A bit lower, there was a "pending aid" link that said I have $5,709 in...you guessed it, pending aid.

Am I expected to pay the whole $12k by the end of August, even though I may be counting on financial aid to reduce that amount?

To add a bit to the problem, I enrolled (just today) in the payment plan. In their instructions, the following is written:

"The Plan Amount is the total estimated expenses less the total estimated credits (financial aid awards, student loans, scholarships, etc.)."

So, I estimated my Plan Amount to be $12,098 - $5,709 = $6,389. That was my plan, and I made the first three payments (June-August). But now, Account Inquiry says I still have to pay $5,709 by 8/31, and then two more payments. In total, I'm paying the $12,098 I was originally charged (plus the $30 payment plan fee).

When does financial aid kick in? Am I supposed to make payments as if I'm getting no financial aid? Will I be charged a late fee if I don't pay the $5700 by 8/31?

I don’t have the page open in front of me right now but I believe it said pending aid cannot post until 10 days prior to first class. Plus I cannot remember if that was business days or not. That means financial aid should post during the next week or next Monday at the latest.

I assume this is the case every term. In that case, am I supposed to pay the full amount before the aid kicks in, or else I get a late fee? When the aid posts, what happens to the extra $5700 I paid?

I called the office about this the other day. All you owe is the $6389.00 because your pending aid covers the rest. So if you are planning on paying the full amount (like myself) then that’s all you owe. If you’re under the payment plan then divide the 6389.00/5=1277.80 and this should be close to your monthly payment after the one time 30.00 charge.

I’ve paid what I worked out as actually owing, i.e. the three June-August payments of $1,277. I just wanted to make sure I’m not going to be penalized with a $30 late fee on August 31 because I didn’t pay what I’m being told I owe on WA.
