Confused about football tickets!

Ok, so I just got an email from the Ticket Office saying:

Become a University of Michigan student season ticket holder! Season tickets for new incoming students are on sale beginning Monday, June 6 at 8:30 a.m. The deadline to order is Friday, June 24 at 5:00 p.m.

FOOTBALL
Join the excitement of University of Michigan Football by ordering student season tickets. A season ticket is $250, and the 2011 football season t-shirt may be ordered for an additional $10.

I like football, and I know that I'll want to go to most of the home games.... so if I don't buy a season ticket, does that mean I can't go to the games? Is there an option to buy single game tickets in the fall? If there is, does anyone know how much they are?

In an ideal world I would just buy the season ticket, because I feel like I'd definitely get the use out of it, but unfortunately $250 is a lot right now, and if I pay that before June 24 it'll take away from other things that I need to pay for.

I'm not sure what to do so I'm hoping somebody can help me figure this out.
Thanks.

You need to get the season ticket to get the student rate. Otherwise the tickets are somemthing like $70 a ticket per game. You could get the season ticket and sell some of the tickets to save money or you can take a pass on the season ticket and try to buy tickets from your friends who can’t go or from people selling them on the street.

The general rule is that it is expensive and difficult to get tickets to big games like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State and probably Nebraska. Games like Eastern, Western, Minnesota, Purdue, Indiana and Northwestern can be found for cheap.

definitely buy the season tickets.
even if you don’t go to all the games, you can easily sell your tickets and make back all your money.

Right now on stubhub the cheapest Notre Dame ticket is above $250. You could easily sell the games you don’t want to go to and make your money back. Buy the season tickets.

on the ticket site it said scalpping tickets was against the rules… i guess its not really punished though?

^^
as far as i know, that is correct

so its pretty easy to get away with (as in it happens and no one really gets in trouble)

Is it too late to get tickets as a current student?

Thanks for the responses.
I’ll definitely be getting the season ticket.

is the $250 for all of the home games? does anyone know the price of season tickets for basketball?

Basketball is $99 when you buy with football tickets, $125 if you buy in the fall.

The $250 is for all of the home games.

Probably dumb questions but are the tickets for assigned seats, or in a particular section? Can friends sit together? Also, I’m an incoming freshman and I didn’t get any email about this, so where do I go to get tickets? Is there any reason to buy immediately or can I wait till later in the month? Thanks.

Your tickets will be for a specific seat, but this doesn’t mean much. The section is more important. You can create or join a seating group when ordering tickets so you will be assigned seats next to your friends. Once you get to your section you can try and move anywhere you want really. It can be tough to move down from the upper rows to the lower areas. If you didn’t get an email, I would searching around mgoblue.com. GO BLUE!

Buy the season tickets and sell them off if you decide not to go.
