Confused about Honors College and College of General Studies

Hi! I’m planning on applying to BU and on the common app it asks if I want to be considered for the College of General Studies or want to be considered for the Honors College. If I hit yes on either of these, does it mean that my first choice would be to get into those programs? If I said yes for the Honors College, could I get rejected from the honors college but accepted into BU as a whole? Should I say yes for the college of general studies? My perception of the college of general studies is that if you do not get into the other BU program you are applying to then you get put in there. Is that true? thanks

If you get into CGS and you want to go to BU you accept! It used to be the school that you get into if you don’t have the grades but right now it’s as competitive as the rest!

@airway1 The stats for CGS entering students are still significantly lower than for other programs.

@TomSrOfBoston what’s the difference? At 22% acceptance any angle is helpful to get in

Honors means you want to be considered, if you don’t get into Honors you’re still considered for BU.
CGS is trickier and I wouldn’t check it unless you can afford to attend BU AND it’s your first choice, because there are many better choices than this.
