for the mid-year reports, is it like a transcript of my first semester grades? how do i send them out? i think i filled in my mid-year report at the very beginning of the year and gave it to my college counselor. do i still have to give her envelopes to send it out?

A mid-year report is just a transcript of your entire HS career that includes first semester senior year. Every high school has it’s own procedures/forms for getting the guidance counselor to send it out. Ask in the guidance office if you don’t know.

There’s a school officials section on the Common App web site that gives GCs guidance on how to send these reports. If they are set up to send your original transctipt electronically, then they are able to do likewise with your mid-year report. Just request the GC to do so, as a reminder.

Some schools will not require this (e.g. the UC system only requires a final transcript and evidence of diploma after you’ve accepted admittance.) Other non-Common App schools may required the snail mail route.
