I know, FAFSA for 2012-13 is not available yet. But I was reading and came across this link where it talks about reporting education credits.

Completing the FAFSA 2011-2012/The Application Question(91 and 92)

*Questions 91 and 92

Parents' 2010 Additional Financial Information. Enter the combined amounts for your parents.

Education credits. Enter the total amount of American Opportunity, Hope, and Lifetime Learning credits your parents received from Form 1040line 49 or 1040Aline 31. The Hope and Lifetime Learning tax credits benefit students or parents who pay tuition and related expenses for attendance at least half time in a degree-granting program. These tax credits are subtracted directly from the total federal tax on a tax return. For more information about these tax credits, visit the IRS Web site at www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p970.pdf. *

According to this, I only need to report what appears on Line 49 of Form 1040, which is $1500. AOC appears on line 66. So, doesn't that $1000 have to be reported?
