I took the SAT twice already and I'm planning on taking it again in October. If I opt to use Score Choice, will my colleges use all three scores and use the highest from each date or will they only use the scores from october?

When you “opt to use Score Choice”, you withhold score(s) from a designated college. So which score the college will use in admissions depends on which score is it that you decide to withhold. The colleges with the policy to use the highest scores will use the highest scores by section from among the test dates you’ve submitted.

v and what silverturtle said :)

Score Choice allows you to hide whichever testing dates you wish to not have sent. Any scores that you do not send cannot be used by colleges in attempting to calculate a higher superscore. A superscore is your highest combination of subject scores, regardless of the testing date when that subject score was achieved.

Most schools superscore the SAT, and most are fine with applicants’ use of Score Choice, though some are not.

(Edit: Cross-posted with xrCalico23. Hello, by the way. :))

Why are some not fine with me using it?

Some colleges have the institutional policy of not accepting Score Choice, most likely to discourage repeated testing. CollegeBoard also has a document somewhere listing the score practices of all the different colleges.

(@silverturtle: hey there!)

is taking them three times too much?

Depends on what colleges you are apply to
