Confused about SAT Scores

Hi,
I am currently a junior who took the SAT in October and took the PSAT 4 days later.
I received a 1370 on the SAT (610 English, 760 Math)
I received a 1380 on the PSAT (690 English, 690 Math)
I can’t help but be confused why there is such a disparity in my scores…my math was high on the SAT but much lower the PSAT and the opposite for English.

Background: I had a math tutor for SAT BUT EVEN WITH the tutoring I could not score higher than 690 on a practice test. Then suddenly I got a 760! English I didn’t even prep for but always got above a 610 on practice tests.

I am planning on superscoring my test (I am satisfied with the 760 in math) but don’t know how much I really need to study for English…I know I did badly the first time but due to the disparity in Math practice tests vs. the actual am unsure.

Does anyone know how to account for the disparity/what I should do?

Just take the SAT one more time and go for the superscore. My kids also had huge discrepancies. Those tests are timed and some questions are tricky. If you have a “bad” day or slightly stressed or unfocused is easy to lose lots of points. For English some times depends on the passages. One hard passage in the beginning might throw you off. You can go back and work on the 8 released tests and see if you can identify some weakness. The tests are not the same every time you take them. They are curved so statistically a student that takes multiple tests would produce similar scores but obviously lots of people fall off the statistics. My kids have done better in harder tests where the curves were lenient and worse in easy tests with harsh curves. That’s because they tend to make the same amount of careless mistakes no matter how easy or hard the test is.
