Confused about Subject Tests

So I've already taken a subject test in Chinese (800), and now I am trying to decide which other subject tests I should take. I am going to take U.S. History and English Lit for sure since I am pretty strong in those two areas. However, I have heard from some friends that I am required to take a subject test in either math or science, even though I am planning to major in a humanities related field. Please clarify this problem, thank you.

P.S.

I am most likely going to apply to these colleges:
The UC's
Dartmouth
Brown
Georgetown
UChicago
Northwestern

The UC's require two different subject areas, so you'll be fine there.

Dartmouth requires two in general (the only two you can't choose together are Math I and Math II).

You should check with the other colleges although I'm pretty sure that the three you're taking are fine. I'm only certain about those two because I applied to them. :P

ok thanks, Oh I guess that I should also mention that my ethnicity is also Chinese, so would that diminish my 800?

Yeah, kind of. There's been debate about that, but if you really think about it, you pretty much just proved that you're Chinese. Therefore, someone with a 750 in his non-native language might be preferred.

If you want, take another. Go ahead and take Math II in addition to the others you mentioned. IMO, if you're Dartmouth-worthy, you should be able to earn a pretty decent score on the Math II exam. Even if you don't do well, it can't hurt. :)

So math two over bio?

You should take whatever you feel the most comfortable with. Bio, Math II, it doesn't matter. I just think the Chinese score should be a kind of "bonus" to your other scores.

does it explicitly help ur admissions chances for the UCs if u take more than the required 2 SATIIs? conversely, would u b passed over (if u took 2) for someone who took more than 2?

^ 1) I don't think it helps. The UC's probably take the highest two scores.
2) Absolutely not.

thanks a lot
