Confused about textbooks.

I'm confused as to when we are supposed to be buying our textbooks. I'm assuming that we need them for the first day of school and we can buy them online now, but my mom said that at SPOP, they were telling the parents that we can buy them on the first day of school at the bookstore. Any opinions or suggestions? When are you guys getting yours, or have you already?

I don’t think we can buy them yet, because the editions are not out yet at the UCI bookstore as to which class uses which book.

I suggest checking the uci bookstore online everyday, and seeing which editions will be used. And from there, try to find an upperclassman selling the book or search for a bargain online. There is a facebook group for the purpose of selling/purchasing UCI textbooks.

Ohh, ok. I must have misread that somewhere then. Thanks!

You won’t need your book your first day. No one checks if you have your book, no one cares if you have you book. Most classes the book is largely supplemental so you would be fine picking it up the first week. Though usually there are long lines and all the used books are taken the first day or so.
