Confused about where to go...

I'm currently a junior in high school and really confused about what to do.
I want to be a surgeon, but I'm not sure what schools I should go to or even try for. I live in Missouri and I want a school pretty close to home but I'm worried that there aren't any good colleges close by me.
I have about a 3.6 GPA and I have a 25 on the ACT so far. I want to major in pre-med and eventually I want to study abroad in France but is that even possible with the colleges around me?

Any of the major colleges in Missouri will certainly be capable of getting you to that point if you do the work.

Also, pre-med is not a major, merely an advising category and set of courses necessary for medical school acceptance.

25 ACT is really really really low for premed

^^^

???

Do you have some sort of data to back that up? It's a pretty ludicrous statement.

Being from Missouri I have to say you really have (as far as I know, but then this is just from my personal knowledge bank) three choices for good pre-med education locally. Kirksville has Truman State which has an excellent Biology program and fairly good matriculation to med schools, average score is a 27 to get in. Mizzou also has a very good pre-medical program and sponsors the "Bryant Scholar Program" available to Missouri college students. Each state college may submit hard working students as candidates and, should your college work reflect on you as med-school ready, you would be admitted to Mizzou's med school without needing to take the MCAT and, I believe, they would pay for some of your tuition. However it does come with a pledge to spend your residency in a rural area. Lastly Washington University in St. Louis is an amazing school, but with an ACT at 25 it may be a tad high for you to shoot for. If you can make it to around 30 definitely consider applying there.
