<p>I am still a jounior but i was considering going into pre-med. I know that i could go through medical school and become a surgeon like i want but i just wanted to know if all of that schooling is worth it or if i would just be wasting my time. I live in maryland so if you know of any good pre-med or med programs that are really good then let me know thanks.</p>
<p>P.s. i was also going to minor in a language so let me know if you think that's a good idea or not.</p>

<p>Also, choose a major that you enjoy, and just take the Chem, Orgo, Bio, and Physics sequences, as well as a calc class and you'll be fine for grad school.</p>
<p>There is no such thing as a pre-med major. As for good sciecnes schools, look at URochester, UChicago, Bowdoin, Grinnell, Hopkins, Reed, Oberlin, etc...there are many out there.</p>
<p>Perhaps, you can figure out what type of college you want, then start looking for specific schools since you have some time...</p>
<p>Thanks for the input.....i would want to major in biology and my goal would be to go to john's hopkins but i know that's a really hard school to get into...so i'll have to work really hard..</p>
<p>My advice: don't pencil yourself in for Johns Hopkins Med or surgery just yet. Stay grounded and work hard. It's nice to have goals but please let them be realistic goals. I put up some statistics about how impossible it is to get into Harvard for med school in another thread. It's about the same for JHU. You wanna get into surgery? Not only will you have to get into med school, you'll have to be at the top of your class in med school. My point is, these things are way in the future. </p>

<p>GW is pretty close by and has a 7 year MD program. Georgetown and Hopkins are good at getting kids to med school. One of my doctors went to UMD straight through and paid half as much and is now a rich doctor. You could also go to the Naval Academy, go to the military med school (I think it is in Bethesda) and then while you are serving to pay back your education, you also gt residency.</p>

<p>So it's 3 in the morning, you haven't slept for a day, you are a first year resident so you don't know what you are doing, and due to your sleep deprivation and ignorance you kill a patient.</p>
<p>It is worth it because it makes you a better doctor, or so the medical profession thinks.</p>

<p>beprepn get a life. residents early on aren't doing all the things doctors do in terms of surgery, etc. if its a critical issue, the resident usually has help.</p>
