I graduated High School this year and at this point I am attending community college. I took 2 class in my community college which i am not doing so well right now. My goal is to transfer to UCLA after 2 years of community college, but i have heard from several students that even having one or more C (or below) in your transcript will get you denied at UCLA. My major is Business Economics. So basically my goal of attending UCLA is over? Would i be able to make up for my classes? Do i have any chances left of getting into UCLA in 2 years?

If it is still possible I would drop those classes if you can. I believe the only way you can retake those classes is if you get a D or F in the class. Business Economics is very competitive at UCLA so a C or lower can hinder your chances for that major. I would talk to your teacher or counselor to see what you can do drop the class if you can though.

You should definitely aim for a 3.5+ GPA. One or more C's will lower your GPA significantly. I wouldn't say that it's all over, you can still get a good GPA with one or two C's, especially if you show an upward trend they may not matter that much.

However, if you can, drop the classes and retake them. Getting a few W's won't lower your chances at the UC's.

Still possible just try to get those grades back up or "W' from them. Even though you get a couple of C it won't be a problem as long your overall GPA is still good. My friend who got in to UCLA after two years of CC got a couple of C and her overall gpa is 3.4 at the time of application.

BizEcon is the most competitive major at UCLA. Try and get a W instead of a C and make sure the rest of your college transcript is flawless. Cutoff last year for bizecon was a 3.8. My friends at CC are trying to get into Haas with a 3.9 and they are going to apply to UCLA for fun. Not to scare you, but it is that hard, and you really have to be dedicated to keeping your transcript flawless. You generally want a 3.9-4.0 to be competitive and try to get some good EC's like leadership opportunities (join the honor society), find an internship, etc. Good luck!

^^ Haas applicants, even with 3.9's, really have no business (pun intended) applying to UCLA busecon for fun, unless they decided to take Calculus II and Accounting I and II for fun as well...

Also the purported cutoff GPA last year was a 3.8, and generally a GPA in that range is considered competitive.

Haas looks at overall package of the student. So if your a 3.6-3.7 with a lot of other things going on in your life you still have a good chance of getting in. Students with 4.0-3.8 are always denied because there is nothing that makes them standout. Just a few EC's or internships don't help that much.
