im confused about the any section part of advanced registration. for frosh it is automatically YES for all classes except writing and freshman seminars. so, if this is the case (which it seems to be, cause i cant figure out how to change it to NO), isnt it completely illogical?

for example, i have an econ recitation for Primary 2 and another for Alternate 2. BUT because the any section is AUTOMATIC for these classes, im going to be put in any old recitation if my primary is full by the time the computer gets to me, cause it will find any section. but on the penn registration tutorial, it showed a mock registration page, and indeed, the mock showed someone with recitations in the primary and alternate, just like me--am i going crazy or does this just make no sense? can someone explain this to me?

we have all come to the conclusion that registering for classes is harder than getting into penn

i cant figure out how to change it to "no" either

I think we cannot change it. :( But what about other primary courses? If I will get any section of the math 104 I cannot get my econ class or something? How is it works?

Well I am having similar problems so I ranked the econ class first. If i get that section of the class then I would have to be put in correct sections of the other classes to prevent time conflicts. SO i am just hoping I get the correct econ section. I would have no problems then.

ah shiz.
registering for classes is really difficult.
I wonder how I'm going to find time for lunch with classes scheduled back to back from morning to afternoon.

this might not be true for everyone, but my friend said not to eat lunch right before classes because you'll end up falling asleep

Don't worry about large lectures filling up. For recitation sections, put your top two time slots down and if you don't get either the computer will automatically place you in the first available time slot (this is how I got an 830 AM recitation after only requesting 930AM ones). You can change your schedule around for the first few weeks of school too so if you don't get into your first choices now don't worry about it.

I know exactly what you guys are going through. Last year I barely figured out how to register for classes and after I did I only got into Math, Econ, and Chem lab. I didn't get into my writing seminar or Chem lecture. I freaked out when I didn't get into Chem 101 until I realized I tried to sign up for the engineering section.

Just try it out (put small classes like writing seminar as your first choices) and if it doesn't work try again after preregistration is over.
