Hello there!

It's been a while! I've got a couple ideas running around in my head. This post also has a little of my D's voice, as she doesn't have her own account. She's started working recently (less than a month) as an in house interpreter spanish-english. Although she still is big on going back to school for a second degree, which as I have told you I fully agree on, now there's something else on the picture: she's really enjoying her languages. She's always kept it on the side, and she still does tutor some HS kids.

D is passionate on public policy and international affairs, we both now that for sure. But her interpreting/translating (she does both) is starting to grow on her, and it's "easy money" (easy to look for jobs, rather than the work being easy). And lately she's been looking into it and the BLS is big on interpretation/translation, and we've read a lot on teaching languages overseas. D is still taking french and is looking forward to portuguese (which we hope to be easier with spanish and french down).

But this is all extremely new to me, I never even thought of interpreting as someones bread and butter, forgive me my ignorance. So I come to CC the academic guru for information. D has even looked at graduate programs offering interpretation, so I guess she is quite serious.

Would public policy/int affairs and interpreting-translating/language teaching fit in together?
Would these skill help her with job propects? Are they sought by the private/public sector?
