I'm currently enrolled in UC Davis and saw that I should be getting a refund from the financial aid that was given to me; However, recently I checked around to see how I can obtain my refund and on the financial aid website for Davis, they only offer two ways: Direct Deposit and Totalpay Card. On another calendar, the deadline to sign up for any of those two for fall quarter has already passed and that if I sign up for Direct Deposit now it will take about a month before it activates but the time period to claim the refund is 21 days, I believe. If I sign up now for Direct Deposit, will I still be able to receive my refund or is there another manual way of getting it now and signing up for Direct Deposit later ?

Go visit the financial aid office tomorrow, and ask them in person. Find out if they can issue you a check, or if your only options are truly these two.

Your school is the only one who can answer this as how refunds are handled will be set by school policy.

At the 2 schools I am familiar with, it would be the bursar’s office you would need to talk to rather than the FA office.
