I have no idea how the Teacher reccomendations work. So far I know that we need two, preferably at least one from junior year and one from english/humanties and one from math.sci teachers.
But do we need to have teachers send reccomendations to each of the colleges we decide to apply to? When do we start having teachers write out reccomendations? I heard end of junior year is a good time–some even tell me its a little late because everybody will be flooding the teachers. But I don’t know what colleges I will be applying to yet. Also, who should I ask the teachers to send the recommendations to???
I’m very confused. If there are other things regarding recommendations that I need to know, I would greatly appreciate it!
PS- I have a lot of teacher recommendations for my SSR(student secondary report) portfoilio, which our school reccomends/mandates us to do. however, the recs I’m talking about are not SSR recs.
Thanks !!
<p>"But do we need to have teachers send reccomendations to each of the colleges we decide to apply to?"
Yes, if the college has letters of recommendations as part of its application process. And yeah, just give them all the forms at once...as one of my teachers put it, "It's really easy to just hit print 9 times rather than come back every other week, find your file, then hit print again."</p>
<p>"When do we start having teachers write out reccomendations?"
Each high school is a little different, I guess...at my school, people asked at the beginning of senior year; I dont know anyone who asked at the end of junior year. I think your best bet would be to ask a current senior at your school...</p>
<p>"Also, who should I ask the teachers to send the recommendations to???"
It'll say on the college applications where the teacher should send it...so you usually give them the forms they are supposed to fill out and a stamped envelope with the address already on there (unless your school uses its own envelopes).</p>
<p>Last little note: my english teacher this year gave us a nice little piece of advice: a week or so before the first deadline, stop by your teachers' room and drop off a little thank you note. It's quite possibly the nicest way to remind them that a deadline is upcoming. </p>
