I'm a freshman community college student in Texas. I'd really like to get into Mcgill my junior year, but I'm not even sure how to go about doing that as a transfer student :s

My career goal is to do something with Biomedical research, so I'm looking at the Biology Program, Physiology Program, Micro and Immunology Program, and the Anatomy and Cell Biology Program. Does anyone know which of these would be the best for someone wanting to have a career in biomedical research? And which of these programs are the easiest/hardest to get into?

I'm not even sure what classes I should be taking at community college to kind of...follow the degree paths of those programs. My counselor suggested getting an AAS degree, but I'm not sure. I've tried getting in touch with people at the school, but so far it hasn't really worked haha. I called the admissions office and they were pretty much clueless...maybe I should call an advisor instead?

Hopefully some of you guys can offer me some insight :)

I think you should try to contact McGill directly. From what I know, it is very hard to go from community college to a university like McGill and I’ve never heard of anyone who has done it, so you want to make sure you are doing exactly what you need to be doing.

its not that it wouldnt be possible, its just that its probably rare. i haven’t heard of anyone doing this, only because i do not believe they do it frequently. moreover, mcgill is very strict about transferring credits and will often not accept many or any of credits of an incoming student from another institution, and depending on this and how they view your courses, this may have a factor in your acceptance.

as it was suggested, i would advise to call them directly as well

Alright so I called the admissions office and spoke to a very unhelpful lady…She couldn’t really answer any of my questions :/

I know I’ve seen a few transfer students around here, so if any of you tranfers read this could you tell me if the application requires SAT/High school GPA when transferring in as a sophomore? Or as a Junior? I was sick and in and out of the hospital my sophomore and junior years of high school so that really brought down my GPA. I think maybe at max it was a 3.4. Senior year it was a 4.0 UW though, so I’m not sure if maybe the senior year is the most important one hopefully?

Blah, anyways, I’m just trying to figure out if I would even have a shot getting in to attend my sophomore year. I’ll probably try calling the admissions office again today, see if I can speak to a different lady haha. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps me out :)

Sorry you did not get a helpful person in Admissions. Keep in mind though that transfers from US community colleges are rare and McGill probably is unfamiliar with schoolsand programs in Texas. Try again.
