Confused!

Im in the same boat as you. I just can't really comprehend how a person with stats like you got refused.

To me, I thought Washington would be one of the more easier schools to get into compared to others that I did apply and did get accepted into. Ah well, guess its not ment to be.

well .. i think i am going to stop checking online because it only disappoints me more... so ill just wait till they actually send me something... haha and yeah i always hope.. .... "maybe tomorrow"

remember, there's always a possibility that we got waitlisted.

yeah waitlisted but shouldn't they tell you? they emailed one of my friends and told him he was on the waitlist last month

yep...real deal. I got rejected. 3.7 GPA + 1970 SAT I. Scary :P.

does anyone else see that as ridiculous?

3.7 unweighted?
what was your SAT without writing (out of 1600)?

are you on the waitlist?

^
1340/1600

and nope..just plain rejection. Which blew my mind away...considering I'm not only in-state, but a legacy as well ....

does anyone think I still have a chance at NYU? :-/

"Well, first...I got a letter from UW that said I didn't complete all of my application, requesting that my family info gets filled out..."

I really think that's why you got rejected. A friend of mine also had some problems with his application. It made it so his application didn't get reviewed for a long time, and despite having decent stats (alot better then some who got accepted), he still got rejected. I think it pretty much just put his application at the bottom so they are the last to be read or something, greatly reducing your chances. This is just my observation/guess though...if it's true, the UW application process is retarded.

Is there a way to appeal? If there is I think you should.

I seriously think something should be done then if that's the case. I even mailed them a portion of the printout of my online application to them to show them that I did indeed send them my family info.

I really wish I could appeal, but I have no idea how to do it (let alone, the right way)...anyone know what I could do there?

Of course, none of this would be necessary if I got a miraculous acceptance to NYU...that would make my day much, much better.

^ how do you know you got rejected? you got a letter already?.... because i still don't trust their online system - im waiting patiently for a letter whether good/bad

^

yes, I got the letter.

Then I assume I am rejected with very similar stats (3.6gpa, 1980 sat, 1310 m/v)

I will probably go to UC-Davis, but it still is dissapointing.

athletics did you have any problems with your application?

Guys..if you want to know how I got rejected with those stats, I want you to look at this:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=166400

I'm so ****ed...so I decided to write it all out for everyone to know what kinda crap I had to go through.

No, I don't believe there was any problem with my application.

i got in...haha 3.38 with 1910 sat's
UW REALLY like my school...they know we produce smart kids...

^ it seems like they are still looking into In-state applicants first - priority over out-of-state

Wow that's odd. I have a 3.38, I go to Portland Public Schools, which is one of the worst school systems in the nation, with the fewest amount of school days and what not, and i got a straight 1300 SAT just M/V, and I still got into UW. Plus I'm out of state, barely, but still out of state. Extra plus is that I'm a horrible student, I come late everyday, and I skip so goddamn much, like I literally got 28 absences in one class (in a semester) and still managed an A. I think it's unfair while some of you guys didn't.

What kind of chance might someone have if they make the Index cutoff but lack leadership/EC's and a good essay?

didn't someone on this forum post before that a long time ago their uncle got rejected from uw with like a 1400/1600 on his SATS and really good gpa and he called the school and it turned out ot be a mistake? this might apply to your situation and again it might not since they changed the admissions process. if you look around on this forum i posted that a friend of mine had 1400/2400 and a 3.3 uw and got in to uw, so for you not to get it i find it very odd. i would def appeal.
