which tells info about wriitng test all freshman must clear....DO SOME highschools really have this many UCLA admits from past years (ex 2006)?????

HENRY M GUNN SENIOR HS

SARATOGA HIGH SCHOOL

LELAND HIGH SCHOOL

it seems strange that almost half of graduating class would be accepted to ucla ( EVEN IF people dont attend) from highschool....is THIS TRUE????????????

Probably not that high but these schools send a lot to UCLA, Berkeley, and UCSD each year. ~40-60 each

I don't think that's just UCLA, it's all UCs, but yes. I know many many people from those high schools here.

o yeh this is for all uc's darnnn...
thanks!

ah, my high school only had 1 this year. we're a dying breed.

The year before mine, my high school sent like 60 kids to UCB. My year - 40 kids to UCLA

My school usually sends around 80 kids to UCLA and Cal. 479 in 2006 to the UC system according to your site. Decently sized school with around 6-700 a class.

Wow, I didn't know the figures were that high. That means over 2/3 of my high school graduating class gets into UC's.

Notice that they're mostly Silicon Valley schools...

I'm surprised that Mission San Jose High isn't on that list...

jam3rz, that's for santa clara county only...mission had 339 uc-accepted students in '06

https://uasother.ucop.edu/cgi-bin/awpe/county_detail.pl?countyid=001&year=2006&sort=sch

damn...SAT verbal or reasoning average of 725??? impressive

Definitely not that many are accepted at UCLA -- 1/3 of that number is more likely, which is still a large number.

mvsenior,

You listed some of the best schools in CA. It's not surprising in the least.

I don't think Lynbrook has THAT many. I've been told its more like 100ish, so maybe thats how many applications they received?

Yes. Lynbrook has that many. These schools are that good.

I think those numbers are for the overall UC system. And I'm not truly surprised. Considering many of those schools' rank in the entire U.S., it's quite plausible.

wow my school is #1

we're really good at sending ppl to UCs but most privates (stanford included) hate us

Yes. I think the article on the Wall Street Journal about MV didn't help either...

What did it say?

Google!

Well, that article was uber biased. I mean, emphasizing the stereotypes, the Asian competitiveness that created a white exodus from cupertino, it serves nothing more than to create even more stereotype about MV.

Some can say that's just reporting, but some can also say that Diana Chien's photograph was also reporting (the WSJ article also made me look up that). There's a line between factual and sensationalist.
