Congrats Denison Swim Team!

By a single point, DU brought down the NCAA's longest championship run ... or swim. The Big Red men beat the Kenyon men, who'd won 31 consecutive NCAA titles! Great day. A Pennsylvania freshman boy from near Harrisburg set a national record in the mile swim. Congrats Big Red laddies!

Congratulations to Denison and all DU fans. Whistle Pig is right to point out Weik’s victory in the 1650–he broke the record by over 8 seconds, dropped 26 seconds from his seed time, and his splits were unbelievably consistent. Also, a Kenyon swimmer finished 16th, missing the 15th position by 0.24! Had he touched out for 15th, the meet would have been tied. Over four days, stuff like that is probably all over the results sheets.

I would have liked to have been there for the 400 free relay. Denison took third to secure the title, barely beating out Emory for that spot. That is almost as exciting as Jason Lezak’s anchor in the 400 free relay in the Olympics.

DU Alum Jennifer Garner was on David Letterman last night and congratulated the DU swim team on their victory!
