So as a recent Cal Reject I've decided to post a few words:

Although Cal was my "dream" school (my parents would have been so proud if I went there), I've slowly come to think that perhaps I truly wasn't meant to go to Cal, I simply would not have fit in. This year, many qualified students from my school were rejected, one was surprised to be accepted after denied from other "lower" schools, but of course some highly qualified students were still accepted. I truly think Berkeley tries to see if you'll fit in and accepts/denies you based on that and your application.

P.S. Look At My Username

lol…funny

sorry about the rejection…admissions can be pretty random

wow, dude, no need to hate on the school just because they denied you.

Sounding a tad bitter perhaps? Only joking, I hope you find your new “dream” school eventually!

You have every right to be angry & bitter.
College admissions at top schools are pretty much random and Berkeley is no exception to that rule. Although it’s no where near the stanfurd slaughter or bulldog bloodbath, it’s not as predictable as UCSD.

Things have a funny way of working out, so just go with your gut instinct at your next school. =]

I don’t see why you posted this, there are no questions or anything.

If you are just venting, there really is no need to. I personally know some very qualified applicants that didn’t get in- it’s really a crapshoot with top schools. I don’t know you or anything, but I’m sure you got into some other great schools. It’s good that you have moved on, because it really doesn’t matter where you end up going, as long as you are happy, because you are still the same person regardless. The person you are will matter much more later in life than the college you went to.

(I hope I can take my own message to heart when I get rejected from my super-reach schools in a couple days)

^
Definitely agree, transfer here. >__<;;

In the end, I really hope you find the school that really was meant for you. My motto is: everything happens for a reason, and like you said–Cal probably wasn’t for you! Another school is. Best of luck!

lmao sensor bipass for the rescue.

One kid at my school got in, he got straight A’s, but he never took a single AP or honors course, not to mention he has almost no EC’s and is almost completely anti-social. Then another kid at my school got rejected even though he also had straight A’s, had taken like 10 AP/Honors classes, was one of the best speech and debaters at our school, was outgoing, friendly, nice, and overall a much, much, much better candidate.

In other words, it is a crapshoot.
