Connect OHIO Housing

If you're wondering why you haven't received your's yet, they are mailing them out this week. Does anyone have tips on what housing to request?

Ah, I was wondering that. I just saw on their website a week or so ago that they'd be mailing them out in late Jan/early Feb and, well, it's the middle of the month now...

I'm excited :)

They'll be there this week I was told...

I got mine today.

Then I got a call from a student asking if I had questions.

Now, there was one question that baffled me... "What other schools are you considering"? Is this for marketing purposes (like demographics and finding competing colleges), or can this be used against me for financial aid? If I tell them "Yeah, i've been accepted to my State U", then would they be less willing to give me aid?

That would be pretty low if they did. I don't think they'll give you any less aid for it; at least I hope not. I got the same kind of call from 3 of my colleges, and all of them asked that question. And since I'm a really really bad liar, of course I told them, "well, I also applied to (insert one college here) because it's (insert stupid reason here) and I applied to (insert another college here) because it's (insert another stupid reason here), but (insert calling university here) is my first choice (for OU) or one of my top colleges (for the other schools) right now."

I don't think that made any sense. Oh well.

I hope my housing stuff comes in the mail today.

*edit: nope, didn't come. lol

OU, like many other schools, is need-blind so they can't change the amount of Aid you'll receive based on information you'll give them over the phone. IT just doesn't work that way.

Your Financial Aid package is based on your EFC (from FAFSA) and then the Gateway scholarship program they offer. :) So don't worry.
Not really :) But I'll try anyway. I would look and see where most of the classes for your major would be and stick to that green. Then, narrow it down based on what you want in a dorm, like substance-free (or not), quiet, laundry rooms, dining halls, etc. Beyond that, uhh, I couldn't tell you... Pick the one with the coolest name?

im going for Hoover house but i really dont want to send me contract in early

I'm going for Hoover too! Crazy :-)
I think housing is a bit of a first come, first serve basis, and I'd guess Hoover is a pretty sought-after place.

yea, I would think so since it sounds amazing.. maybe I will get a chance to check it out when im in april... oh well if i dont get it i just dont get it b/c right now all my money is invested in spring break

Hoover seemed like the only place that stood out to me, crazy.

Wow! If Hoover is this popular with everyone else, too, maybe I should get my housing contract in now. Except my oak account thing won't work because they got my birthday wrong...

If you call HOUSING they can probably change that I think.

I did. They had me send a copy of my drivers license, I suppose so they could verify that it was me calling and not someone who managed to get ahold of my codes.

ummm... I didnt get an oak account

I believe the OAK ID comes in a separate mailing than the Housing Information.

I found out why i didnt get an oak id letter.. apparently since i went to a summer program there last summer i am considered a student and i have an active oak id already. Unfortunately, I was never given a password so now i have to either show up in person with an id to request a password reset or fax them a bunch of stuff and wait for them to get back to me.

Oh, i'm not going for Hoover anymore, lol.

I decided to request West Green, Double, Co-ed (not just freshmen), A/C. I'm hoping for Boyd. Don't want a freshman-only dorm or a dorm with scholastic-emphasis.

Do we have to put down Bobcat cash or is it optional? It doesn't seem like we really need to put 50 dollars in, rather, if you want to put money in your account, you can.

yea im also pulling out of hoover and going for read/johnson simply b/c i want to live on east green

What, the catwalks aren't cool enough for you?! lol
