<p>i currently live in the us, parents work here and pay taxes here. i dont have a green card, us passport/citizenship but i do have a us work permit and a social security card. am i still considered an international student regarding college applications because i dont know how to fill out the financial certification since i have lived in california almost my whole life. help!</p>
<p>Colleges should not need financial documents unless you need a student visa (in which case they are legally required to check your financial resources before issuing visa documents) or if you are applying for financial aid. </p>
<p>Whether you are considered an “international student” for other purposes depends on your exact status and how the college defines an “international student.” Some colleges do it by citizenship/immigration status, some by country of residence. You should also check if you qualify for state and federal financial aid (which will depend on your immigration status) and if you qualify for in-state tuition at public universities. (Most graduates of California high schools will qualify, but a few non-immigrant visa categories are excluded regardless.)</p>
