I have seen lots of people talk about transferring from UCSD to UCLA, so I guess I’m a special case. The reasons I am considering transferring is due not being able to change my major to computer science at UCLA, feeling like I don’t fit in at UCLA (I’m a rising second year and I literally made no friends last year), and when I applied as a freshman to UCSD gave me more financial aid than UCLA (this year I have been struggling to pay for college). I almost went to UCSD as an incoming freshman, but I loved UCLA’s beautiful campus and looked forward to be academically challenged. So I went to UCLA, and it just wasn’t right. UCSD was my second choice, so it seems only natural that I should transfer there since I don’t feel like UCLA is a good fit for me. Even at UCSD, I feel like I still won’t easily make friends because I’m super antisocial but at least I will have easier time paying for college and be able to go into the major I want. Currently a pre math of computation major at UCLA, but due to getting one C+ in a class, I can’t change my major to computer science.
Any advice on my situation would be very helpful. I’m still not completely sure I should go through with it, but I have to decide by November since that’s when transfer applications are due.
You only need to decide whether to submit the transfer application by November. You always have the option in the spring when the results are announced to stay at UCLA
While you are at UCLA, please give the Anime club a try. You will be welcome there and can go out with groups of them to Westwood, or on trips to the beach, etc. Good luck with your transfer application. UCSD has a good CS program, as you can see on the CSRankings site. They appear to have more CS professors than UCLA.
