Consolidated List of Essay Readers on CC

Is it selfish to ask the same person to read multiple essays of yours?

HastyCentaur is extremely helpful! He didn’t ask me to post his praises on here, but I felt the need to because people need to send their essays to those who aren’t going to give them bad advice and/or do anything sketch with their essay. I appreciated his advice and completely agreed with it.

The funny thing is, I email it to ZombieDante on the same night because I figured I needed at least 2 opinions, but when HastyCentaur’s pm got sent to my email from CC, I thought it was ZombieDante who replied beck, so I sent him and email with praises about my the advice I was given.

Basically: I sent my praises to the wrong guy and now he probably thinks I’m a nut.

Ahhh, you gotta love technology :)

this is great !

What intrigues you? Tell us about one work of art, scientific achievement, piece of literature, method of communication, or place in the world (a film, book, performance, website, event, location, etc.), and explain its significance to you. 1500 characters max.

She isn’t Emily Dickinson, but she’s an influencing author. Jodi Piccoult writes books that address issues unique to today. In Piccoult’s 2003 novel My Sister’s Keeper she combined strange characters and a provocative topic. The main character, Anna, who is arguably a “designer baby”, was conceived so her parents could use her marrow to treat her Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL) stricken sister, Kate. Anna litigated her parents for medical emancipation, giving her say in decisions regarding donating her organs or bone marrow. With this plot Piccoult was able to be both insightful and suspenseful.

My Sister’s Keeper is my favorite thought-provoking book from Piccoult’s collection. It made me ask, “What if?” which intrigued me. Would I ever say no to helping my sisters in a life or death situation? Never. Have I ever been in that situation? No. That’s what Jodi Piccoult novels do; they simulate those questions? Somehow I was still thinking about the characters long after I read My Sister’s Keeper. Throughout the novel morals were called into question, family dynamics were challenged, even romance blossomed. Comparitively, the lesson I learned was small, but it came as sort of a revelation affecting me significantly. “You don’t love someone because they’re perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they’re not,” (Page 370, Piccoult). Now I seem to look past my sisters annoying tendencies, to see that my time with them isn’t guaranteed, so I should be grateful for them.

I think you spend too much time on the book and not enough on its impact on you (what they really want, not just how significant it is to you). Throughout your first paragraph, keep tying the book to you

Is there any certified reader who is currently available to read two commonapp essays? I can handle making grammatical edits but I am more concerned in the content. I can’t decide which to use and I want to make final fixes tomorrow. One of them is on my own topic and the other is on international concern. If there is anyone who is available and willing to help, I will be much obliged to him or her!! Good luck and have a great New Years!!

*Sorry if it’s bothersome to post now, I really can’t tell which people are available currently and thought it would be better not to message many people at once

Thank God for this thread.

I can’t PM on here. Would someone be willing to PM me so that I can run an idea by? I just need you to read an intro for the common app essay so I can decide whether or not to spend time embellishing/finishing it.

HastyCentaur is great…super fast editing! Thank you!

I would not mind at all. Send them to me at rth_sanchez @ yahoo .com

I’ll read essays  send them in

I read essays but I’m pretty critical. Just a heads up for people.

**Just so people know I read as much as I possible could. School is back on, and I can only read essays during the weekend. So if you send them to me you will get a reply on the weekend. Also if you sent me an essay and I replied back to you that I could no longer read your essay, and you still need me to, reply my email and I’ll do it. **

I’m willing to look at essays as well. I am a current senior, but all of my applications are in so don’t hesitate to PM me.

Are there people still willing to read?
Apart from apexeffect. :)

Beware of plagiarism!

I read essays! But I am pretty critical, so dont take anything personal.

I am a parent (with one son having recently graduated from college) and two others still in H/S. Willing to do selective reads.

Hello. I was just wondering if anyone can take the time to read my college essays? I’ve fully completed them, however, I’m just not too confident in my work to submit it just yet. I would love to get someone else s perspective of my essay. Thanks in advance

Why would anyone ask to have their plagiarized essay reviewed?
