I believe the title explains all.............I don't really know whether there's such a thread already posted in CC so I'm posting here. Hope every one will contribute. (u can include any program that's free of charge/free tuition grant like the governors programs and all WITH the links provided)
Thanks. ;)

a website of free summer programs: http://www.education-world.com/a_curr/curr074.shtml

Thanks a lot, atleast someone has replied!

It's very easy to do a google search for free summer programs for high school students. Also, CC has several threads about free or cheap summer programs. You can read through the threads or do an actual search here for programs.

(lol)! momboys--u know what, that's exactly what I say a lot of time in the SAT thread, anyways, the reason I'm posting it like this is because I thought it would be REALLY EASIER for OTHERS (besides me) to have an overall ideas of all the opportunities they can have free of cost during the summer w/ o searching CC for hours. That's the only reason why I've said it as CONSOLIDATED to really help out everyone out. Anyway, I think that just ain't gonna happen in this Summer Program thread. This thread is really dormant and silent. (in comparison to other threads in CC) :(

well RSI and TASP get brought up every year, those threads are always crazy active, other programs are not prestigious or not well known or something, but it would definitely be more efficient to just do a Google search

I agree, alrite, i'll rather do a google search and try to come up with a good list.

Sorry if I came off kind of testy and am glad you didn't take offense. Sometimes I get irritated when people ask for information they can easily get for themselves. Having said that, I agree it would be great to have a consolidated thread for free programs, and stickies for programs such as math & science, humanities, debate, etc. In fact, I'm the poster who originally asked for a Summer Program forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=149869

I'm not sure what this is: http://www.blackexcel.org/summerprograms2007-1.htm

Maybe others will post programs they come accross.

over30, I really appreciate ur post. (would u plz note that the first link u've posted---the great math and science programs link, isn't the right one though, I guess it's just a typo)

Let me add two:- (the only two I really know about very well! :(

Thanks.

I deleted the bad link in my prior post. Here's the one I meant to post. Some of these are not free, maybe even most of them, but some are: http://www.education-world.com/a_curr/curr074.shtml

I've applied to the VA Summer Governor's School for Life Sciences & Medicine. I'm also applying to YESS and Cornell's nanobiotech internship. Which one of these do you think is the most prestigious & will help me get into the ivies?

Here's a cool one that I just found out from another CC thread (can't believe someone hasn't posted this one!)

waoh! great post!

OMG! I'm completely shocked at seeing no. of people who viewed this thread.............1790!!!! That's thoroughly surprising! Anyway, just to bump the thread...I'm posting the exact post that hsmomstef recently made in one of the thread.....I hope u wouldn't mind for doing so, after all, I'm giving u the credit!
NOTE: I've decided to change the thread name as free/low cost summer programs......
Here's the post...........

thomas aquinas great books program -- Tuition is $900 for two weeks. cheap compared to most summer programs: http://www.thomasaquinas.edu/admissi...gram/index.htm

Thomas More Collegiate Summer Program -- tuition is $995, again -- a cheap deal! http://www.thomasmorecollege.edu/sum...ram/index.html

both of these are humanities oriented.

hmm does anyone know if the santa fe one that birk44 posted is residential?
and thanks for providing these links guys!

just an update on a post I made earlier -- the summer scholars program at George Washington does not give good financial aid if you really need it. my son shows enough need to get almost complete scholarships at Brown, Harvard and Washington and Lee (and several others) but George Washington only awarded him $1000 towards a tuition of $6100. It isn't that it is a bad program -- just that the endowment and available money for summer programs isn't much. so if you are in need of aid, that is not a program to consider.

asifkhan -- good idea to update the post. I am thinking that when I have time in May, I will possibly start a few new threads: free programs/programs with good financial aid and another thread on programs for middle schoolers. Then I will ask to have those stickied at the top. I will consolidate all the info that has been posted so far and include links. I think that will be most helpful when it comes to applying to summer programs next year.
