Free summer programs

I've been searching this forum on and off for days, but I can't seem to find a good list of free (or cheap) summer programs that don't deal with science, engineering, etc. If you know ANY please post them here!

what part of the country? Residential or commuter?

Residential and I’m open to any part of the country.

Are you open to international travel?
-National Security Language Initiative for Youth
-CIEE South Korea Scholarship
-American Youth Leadership Program with Cambodia

Otherwise:
-Telluride Association Summer Program

Non residential internships:
-US Department of State Summer Clerical Program
-Bank of America Student Leaders

…that’s what I can think of off the top of my head.

some programs do have financial aid if you qualify. Do you want a whole summer program, or a few weeks to a month?

I don’t think I’d qualify for financial aid. I’m open to international… In fact I’d love it. I’d prefer shorter one to three week programs though.

RSI (@MIT)
research internship/volunteer with local college (just ask a professor, worst thing that can happen is that they’ll say no)

There’s many! You just have to get out there and research. Sure it’s time consuming, but in the long run it will pay off.

From the ones I attended/applied to:

Pepperdine University Youth Citizenship Seminar
Princeton Journalism Program (I forgot the name but you have to show extreme financial need to qualify)

My friend went to COSMO as well and he received a complete financial aid! c: Hope that’s helpful!

Good luck!

I thought of TASP, but nothing else was on the top of my head. If you’re in California and close to the Bay Area, there’s ATDP/summer classes at UC Berkeley, but I can’t think of anything else other than that. Just go with what you think you will enjoy. In my opinion, having a full experience at the place you spend your summer at is far more important that which college you go to.
