Consolidated US MBA Ranking

This is for you ranking nuts. I consolidated 6 major (or credible in my eyes) MBA rankings and took the average ranking to come up with this list. Not exactly sure if this has any merit, but some of you may find this interesting/useful.

The 6 rankings used are are:
The Economist Ranking 2007
Forbes Ranking 2007
Wall Street Journal Ranking 2007
BusinessWeek Ranking 2008
Financial Times Ranking 2008
US News & World Report Ranking 2009

Needless to say, some publications do not release their rankings every year.

Some of the rankings used were actually global MBA rankings, so in that case, I removed the non-US schools and renumbered them accordingly. There were some programs that were not listed in some publications due to some reasons, so my criteria for making into the final list was that they needed to be listed in at least 4 of the rankings used. The only problem I foresee with the current setting is the schools outside of Top 30 for BusinessWeek, as they were listed, but not numbered, so I used the same average value of 45 for 30 schools mentioned.

I probably need to tweak the ranking a little. Anyway, here’s what came up.

Chicago

Dartmouth

Penn

Stanford

Harvard

Columbia

Northwestern

6 did not make the cut for missing out on 1 publication:
(43) SUNY - Buffalo
(56) Missouri
(56) Temple
(57) George Washington
(59) Rutgers
(60) Connecticut

That's great, but our MBA program is definitely better than 56th.

Temple....Honestly, I am surprised you even made the honorable mentions for this list.

no disrespect but the only two rankings sources worth looking at are usnews and bweek. the others are hogwash, although i happen to think qs-topmba has a decent list.

Well then you know nothing about the school, because we have a very highly regarded MBA program.

Actually, here's a list that did all the consolidated ranking already...

The Consus Group : The Consus Group Rankings

^If you switch 1 and 3 and put 8 between 5 and 6, I would agree with those.

35. Thunderbird

which school is Thunderbird????

I think it's an MBA only school with a focus on international business located in AZ.

Thanks gellino. Out of curiosity, went to wiki the school and also visited their website, and learned more. quite impressive.

Lots of people like to bash Thunderbird or USC, I don't understand why. At the end of the day, all MBA programs have zero to little academic integrity (meaning you actually learn anything worth while), including HBS. You get an MBA to join a club. A club that allows you to get a high paying job. Therefore, all MBA programs should be ranked by their placement abilities. From what I hear, Thunderbird will land you a great job at a multi-national (i.e. it is a good school)

How can you consider the WSJ ranking a credible one?

Here is its top 10:

Dartmouth College (Tuck)

University of California, Berkeley (Haas)

Columbia University

MIT Sloan

Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper)

University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (Kenan-Flagler)

University of Michigan (Ross)

Yale University

University of Chicago

University of Virginia (Darden)

No Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, or Kellogg in the top 10?
