Breaking Ground on New Creative Arts Building

[New building will ?transform? creative arts at Brown | Today at Brown](http://today.brown.edu/articles/2009/05/arts-center)

Man, all the cool stuff they said they’d be building when I was a freshman seems to be actually happening now.

son is a theater arts concentrator and I wish he would have had time to enjoy this new facility but he is going into his senior year so I doubt it. Oh well, atleast the university is improving on the current spaces available.

WHEN WILL THIS BE BUILT AND CAN MY CERAMICS STUDIO GO THERE?!?

Read the article. Opens tentatively Spring 2011. I am glad the design looks modern too. Brown has way too many red brick buildings or buildings that seem to push you away (like big concrete slabs and etc. very heavy looking buildings… but they are indeed beautiful and full of history!). It is kind of sickening to my architectural wandering eyes. I wish there was more U Chicago kind of buildings at Brown, like big purple buildiings, or fortressy kin of things with random squares sticking out… ooh MIT. I wonder which walk-way it will border. I am guessing the one between the Greenhouse and Angell? Right behind the Jwalter wilson? And it seems like a mix up of philosophies here, I remember they were trying to kick bikers off of the walk but bikers tend to be creative people so i guess the bikers will have the final say on who rides/walks the walk.
