Do the Claremont Colleges (Claremont McKenna in particular) have good on-campus recruiting for consulting jobs? As in, how common is it to get internships and job offers among the student body at leading consulting firms? My plan would be to attend CMC and get into consulting and work for 2-5 years before getting an MBA.
Answers from current students/alumni would be helpful.
A joke here is that a CMC econ student either goes into consulting or finance just because it’s so popular here. CMC does an awesome job at leading students to consulting firms. There are specific days for career fairs and there are multiple of them just for consulting. The career advisors here are great with helping you find something you like.
that’s good to hear haha. would you say most of the people who wanted to go into consulting (that you know) managed to succeed?
my tentative plan is to do consulting for 3-4 years then go to business school or start/continue a business. would you say CMC is good for these goals?
As far as I know, if you want to do consulting, you get to do consulting. Career Services here are great about helping you get where you want to be, so I don’t think you’ll have any problem going into whatever you want to do, especially consulting since it’s so popular here.
For your second point, CMC also will support you in those things. The support network for grad school and entrepreneurship is amazing here. Our Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is another thing you should look into.
Also, feel free to send me a PM. I’d be happy to answer any other questions that you have.
