Is it just me, but I’ve sent 4 emails to three different members of Choate faculty but I have not gotten a response for two weeks. What should I do?
That is shameful. At both our public school and local private school administration expects response to parents to be within 24 hours.
Are you an applicant there?
@gardenstategal yes
Nothing.
There is much information missing about the context of your emails to jump to conclusions. Questions that come to mind:
Did your AO put you in contact with them? Are they expecting your emails?
What kind of faculty - teachers, coaches, both?
What was the content of your emails? “Hey, I’m applying and here’s my story”, or did you ask specific questions? And were those questions that required a faculty member to answer?
How long ago were they sent?
Honestly, three faculty members all not responding makes me question the circumstances here. In general, contact with teachers is facilitated by the AOs. Contact with coaches often begins with filling out an athletic inquiry. While you can contact teachers, coaches and other faculty directly, remember - Choate gets around 2,000 application every year. Faculty are not only teaching (and doing an incredible job at it), they are coaching, serving as advisers, dorm parents, and a number of other roles. Many/most applicants do not require personal contact with faculty (especially multiple faculty), so again - the nature of the emails is important for understanding and framing the question of what to make of lack of response.
I’m agreeing with @Altras ; there’s too little information given in the original post. If admissions put you in contact with the faculty, I’d offer one answer. If you blindly cold-emailed the teachers simply because you found their email address, I would give you a totally different answer.
Generally good business practice. However the OP is not a current parent, but a prospective student. Although my above statement would apply to prospective parents as well.
