Hey, a few weeks ago I went to a Yale Information Event in Seattle and talked with my regional admissions advisor. She was really informative and so now I'm wondering: how do you get in touch with your regional admissions person? I'd really like to call/email her and ask her a few things.

Any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks so much. Do you know if the admissions officers are okay with getting emails and stuff? I mean, do they think you're being pushy or anything, or do they try to help? I've always wondered about that.

I think an admissions officer would be annoyed if an applicant contacted him or her with a question that could be answered by looking at Yale's website. If you have an unusual and specific question, I think it's OK. If you're calling to ask if Yale has a certain major, whether you can get college credit for AP classes, or about the different student publications on campus, don't bother. I would also avoid asking an admissions officer anything that resembles a "chances" question.

As you know, the admissions officers are on the road right now giving presentations in their regions, so don't expect an immediate reply if you do email or call.

i emailed my regional yale person a month ago and she hasnt yet responded. i had a very general question (about GPA) that wasn't answered on the website. interestingly, i sent the same email to the stanford admissions office as a whole (no regional individuals) and got an excellent response a few weeks later

ask the question about GPA here, and I'm sure someone'll be able to answer it.

Also, that list is not up-to-date, because I know for sure that one person on it is no longer in the admissions office.

actually, no. i asked the GPA question on here multiple times. and my question was, does stanford count +/- grades when recalculating GPA? the answer was no. on CC, people (including xiggi) told me the answer was yes. good thing i went to the official source.
