Contacting the professors

<p>Hi everyone,</p>

<p>When you're trying to contact the professors via email you would like to work with, how do you begin the process? I am completely lost on what kind of things you should say in the email, or what kind of attachments you should send. (This is for someone who is returning to graduate school after 20 years or so, and should that be mentioned in the email etc etc?) FYI, this is an application to the mechanical engineering department.</p>
