Hey guys, I've heard a lot of getting to know your FFR, but was wondering what your opinions are on that. Also, I am a sophomore right now and was wondering when a good time to contact your FFR may be.

Hey! I’m a student applying to West Point now, so I could probably be of a little help.

First I would like to say it is never to early. I didn’t get in contact with mine until the spring of junior year, and tat was fine. However, it may be good to express your interest early so calling and talking about preparation and suggestions on your academic track might be helpful. They are there to assist you and don’t want you to fail. I’m not sure how they can effect you from an admissions point, but I felt like mine was very influential in lobbying my acceptance there.

I know my FFR really well. He calls in bi-weekly to see how I’m doing academically and in my sports and stuff. Since I got an LOA and am done the application process, it’s merely just waiting for a nomination at this point. The portal for your class won’t be open for about a year and a half but as soon as it does contact your FFR! An early jump goes a long way!
